Hair Mask Chat: John Frieda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Masque + Lee Stafford Treatment for Hair that Never Grows Past a Certain Length

I have always been an avid user of hair masks. I just love the whole ordeal. The idea of slapping a product on my hair, throwing it up in a bun and forgetting about it. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes overnight. To be washed out at some later point to reveal smooth strands of glossy loveliness. This devotion to the hair mask doesn't mean I have been faithful to brands. Hands up, I have been a bit of a product whore in my time. I have a naughty habit of using a product religiously, declaring it to be my one true love, only to dump it for a newer, flashier product. Sometimes products of routines past end up donated to friends, in the back of a draw, or (gasp!) thrown out. However, sometimes they end up being revisited, and my desire for them is reignited, and I curse the day I ever strayed...

Enter these two pots. The left is an old favourite, forever finding its way back into my life and my shelves. The right is a new love, but one I'm so taken with that I once purchased every pot that was on the shelves in my local Boots when they were on special. Yeah, I really like this stuff.

I should start off by pointing out that lovers of uber thick, creamy masks may be disappointed here. I would say the texture is more akin to a conditioner. It distributes easily throughout the hair, and smells divine! Depending on how much time I have. When I don't have time to spare I'll apply it after washing, leave for about 5 mins, rinse and go. If I'm slumming it for the day or can bare to leave it on overnight I apply it to dampened hair, throw it in a bun or put on a shower cap and save it for later. Upon rinsing out my hair feels and feels a heck of a lot softer and breakage has reduced significantly. No mean feat for the girl who dyed her highlighted hair black, then stripped it all out again. Alas, there is a negative here (isn't there always?) and that’s the tub itself. Sleek? Yes. Value for money? Maybe not. For almost six pounds you will receive a tiny 150ml of product. I tend to buy this when there is a 3 for 2 offer on and squirrel it away for later use.

Every time I walk past Lee Stafford products I can't help but stop and hover. I am consistently suckered in by the shocking pink packaging and the bold claims, this was no exception. A product that is going to help my hair grow? Sceptical but sold! I had heard praise for this product that was borderline evangelical, and although my hair is pretty long,  the idea of a few extra inches, should it actually do anything, sounded lovely.

Another treatment with a thin consistency, it doesn't weight hair down and has that distinctive, gorgeous scent, which users of Lee Stafford products will be familiar with. I apply this all over, roots and all, and then I sit and sniff my hair. Yummy.

I'm not going to even attempt to comment on this products hair growth properties. My hair does seem longer. Sort of. I can't scientifically prove that. Nor can I say it is down to this product, seeing as 1) I have been on a health kick recently and 2) I have been taking care to massage products into my scalp properly lately, which I hear in itself will help stimulate hair growth. But what I will say is that my hair feels healthier and looks shinier, so regardless of how fast my hair is growing, it will look beautiful and smell fabulous.
